Jim is passionate about creating opportunities for students to learn, collaborate, lead and explore their world, and he is also eager to activate an alumni and parents network. Before coming to Santa Cruz Hillel, Jim worked as a business attorney in New York and California. He has also been very involved in pro bono work and recently served as a volunteer attorney for the California Innocence Project. Jim grew up in the New York area and attended University of Maryland as an undergrad. He received his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. In 2004, he relocated with his family from New York to Santa Cruz. Jim and his wife have two teenage daughters (oy vey), who are discovering their own Jewish identities. In his free time, Jim enjoys arguing about politics, hanging out with his family, hiking, and running. He is also an avid home cook.
