Discussion of Satan in Goray by Isaac Bashevis Singer
The Watsonville Public Library will host a five-part reading and discussion series http://www.watsonvillelibrary.org/services/ltai.shtml, Jewish Literature: Identity and Imagination, beginning this fall. This exciting program is designed to offer participants an opportunity to explore Jewish literature and culture through scholar-led discussions of contemporary and classic books centered on a common theme. Dr. Murray Baumgarten will lead and facilitate the book discussions which center on the theme Demons, Golems, and Dybbuks: Monsters of the Jewish Imagination.

Sukkot, the "festival of booths," is a Jewish harvest holiday. Our ancestors slept and ate in the fields in small huts called "Sukkot" during the fall harvest season. We commemorate this practice by eating and celebrating in our own huts for the week of Sukkot.
